FreeGeek Columbus accepts walk-in donations any time we're open. For our address and hours of operation, please see the sidebar to the left of this text. We accept all computers and computer peripherals, free of charge. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • complete computer systems -- Especially Intel PIII and above systems.
  • mainboards
  • modems
  • video cards
  • RAM -- We are very low on PC133 style RAM.
  • hard drives
  • uninterruptible power supplies

We accept LCD and CRT monitors. Each CRT monitor is charged a mandatory $10 fee, regardless of that monitor's condition.

We also accept some non-computer items:

  • cell phones and cables

We do not accept:

  • manuals
  • software CDs
  • styrofoam
  • televisions
  • microwave ovens
  • copiers
  • DVD players or VCRs
  • smoke detectors
  • Appliances (including air conditioners)
  • Any other non-computer item

As a non-profit organization we try to keep our costs very low so that we can put more resources into our mission. However, we still have to pay essentials such as rent and utilities. Proceeds obtained from recycling help offset these costs, but they are generally not enough. Donations from supporters like you fill in the gaps!

FreeGeek Columbus is a registered IRS 501c3 non-profit organization. That means that all donations to us, both cash and in-kind, are tax-deductible. Note that fees for disposal of CRT monitors are mandatory and non-deductible. At the moment, the best way to donate money is to stop by during our regular business hours or mail a check to:
