Weiland Park Wifi Project
The Freegeek Columbus Weiland Park Wifi project is an initiative to build a community wireless network through out the Weiland Park neighborhood, south of OSU's main campus and in the locale of our former warehouse.
The initiative is being funded in part by a grant from the Community Festival aka Comfest.
The plan involves recruiting individuals, businesses and community organizations to share their internet connection using a wireless technology known as OpenMesh, wherein the network is strengthened by each participant and gains redundancy. This is similar to the wireless technology used to provide free wireless for Dublin, but the hardware is cheaper and opensource.
